Simple steps to healthy living

Life is beautiful and in order to enjoy it to the fullest, it is important that you have a healthy body and mind. As we grow older, life becomes more and more complicated, busy and stressful.
Once we enter the professional world, we have little or no time left for ourselves. Too much work pressure, not getting enough sleep, poor eating
habits are just few of the many aspects of modern lifestyle which prove to be really bad for our health.
Do you start your day with exercise? Do you make sure that you do not sit for long hours at a stretch? Are you particular about eating all your
meals on time? In case you answer all these questions with a ‘no’, you need to think about making some serious changes to your lifestyle.
Lack of physical activity, not getting a full 8 hour sleep or a pessimistic attitude can adversely affect your health and well-being. There are a number of simple and easy things you can do in
order to improve your health.
It is pertinent in life that you do and go for what you need.
Do what you love
It is understandable that your busy schedule leaves you with no time for the activities you love.
However, try not to lose touch with things you like. Gardening, reading, cooking, no matter what you like make sure you spare some time for it.
Having a hobby will help you distress and relax.
Inner Peace
A healthy mind is as important as a healthy body. We lead a very hectic and stressful life. This stress is toxic for your mental health. Inner peace is important for your physical well being. If your
mind is full of worries and tension, it will
eventually start affecting your body. Indulge in activities which will calm your mind. Pray, listen to music, practice meditation or yoga. Take some
time out of your hectic schedule to purge negative thoughts and replace them with peaceful ones.
Say no to cigarettes
This seems like stating the obvious. Smoking kills. It causes serious damage to your body. It also leaves you with unattractive darkened lips and stained teeth. However, breaking this habit
may not be as easy as it sounds. But cut down the number of cigarettes you smoke per day gradually till you are ready to stop smoking completely. You will be to see the benefits of getting rid of this deadly habit within days of
giving it up.
Sleep Well
We need at least 8 hours of sleep per day to overcome the wear and tear our body goes through during the day. Getting sufficient amount of sleep reduces risk of several diseases. If you
have trouble falling asleep, try meditation, yoga or other relaxation techniques. Sleep is necessary to
refresh and recharge you and prepare you for the next day.
Exercise Everyday
Exercising regularly is the key to a healthier and longer life. It lowers cholesterol in the body,normalizes blood pressure and releases stress
reliving chemicals. It keeps your body healthy andnin a good shape and your mind stress free. As less as 10 minutes of exercise every day can make a significant difference. You do not have to spend hours on a treadmill or lift weights at the gym. Simple activities such as brisk walking,jogging or jumping rope will also prove to be
beneficial for your health. When you ready to take things a step further, indulge in some resistance exercises. Exercises such as sit-ups,press-ups and squats help in maintain muscle
mass and strength of the body. So, get up , get going and feel the difference in just matter of days.
Eat well
Healthy eating habits are perhaps the most important part of a healthy lifestyle. A wide range of foods ensures you are getting a balanced diet
with all the necessary nutrients. Your calorie intake should depend on how active you are. The more active you are the more calories you burn and so you need to consume more calories. Make
sure your diet includes at least five portions of vegetables and fruits every day. For non vegetarians, fish is a great source of proteins, vitamins and minerals. It is recommended that
you take all your meals on time and avoid late night snacks. Healthy eating habits will help you in keeping diseases at bay and keep your immune system strong.
