Homemade Remedies for MostCommon Illnesses

It’s that time of the year again, only its your nose ringing with constant sneezes instead of jingle bells. What to do? Going to the doctor is the most obvious option, but not always the most available one: you’re too busy, the doctor’s out of town, or you’re just feeling downright lazy. Don’t fret, this homemade remedies can be a lots of help

Common Cold
I’m not going to suggest some ungodly and disgusting-tasting solution to you. Yet. The tastiest one is probably chicken and/or garlic soup. The chicken boosts your strength, and garlic kills the germs in your throat and tummy. Along with that, and here comes the icky part, drinking a mixture of half an onion, a clove of garlic, and lemon mashed together with hot water can actually do wonders for your cold: the onion and garlic kill germs in your throat and stomach, the lemon boosts immunity and supplies Vitamin C. You can do it, I have faith in you; just pinch your nose and gulp it down, you’ll thank yourself.
Cough As someone who has cough and cold in varying degrees all through the year, believe me the real magic to get rid of cough lies in one word: steam . Lots and lots of steam. I know it’s really hot and you feel like you’ve voluntarily scalded your face but trust me; keep doing it, hold on until your entire face is hot and pink, and watch how all the cough comes gushing out of your breather. Cough, or phlegm, is very easily liquefied when you eat or drink or even inhale something really hot–why do you think your nose becomes runny when you eat spicy food? For really severe cough, trying adding a tiny knob of balm like aboniki balm or Vicks. Once the balm melts in the hot water, it’ll transform into steam, healing you better inside out.
Fever
The best homemade remedy for fever is and always will be a good, long rest. The very reason as to why your body is acting up is, apart from various others, that you haven’t been getting enough rest and so your body has to shut down in order for it to get you to do just that.
Sore Throat
The most sworn-by method to treat a sore throat, probably passed down by practically every single grandparent ever, is gargling with salt water. And they’re not kidding: it works like magic. Doing it
every morning and every night can significantly improve your throat’s health. Another great remedy is green tea, but with basil, lemongrass and ginger. Chop up the lemongrass and basil (only half a handful; these babies are strong) along with a piece of mashed ginger and leave it to soak with the green tea in freshly boiled water.
You can add a little honey, too, in case you have a sweet tooth.
