Been an effective teacher

What is Teaching?

Teaching is more than just getting up in front of a group of students and reading out of a book or reciting some facts.....at least it is if you do it right!

As a teacher, you must understand your students and their needs, often better than their own parents, in order to provide them with the skills they'll need to get through life. No matter what subject you teach and no matter the age of the students you're charged with, this short course we will help improve your Teaching skills.

Become an effective teacher

Identify Needs

Identify crucial academic skills: Think about what skills your students will need to employ in order to make it through their lives. Think about the skills you use as an adult and how you can build those skills in your students. These should be skills which students will not be able to function in society without. Basic reading and math skills are good examples. Prioritize these.

Identify secondary, life-improving skills: Once the crucial skills have been identified, consider secondary skills which will significantly improve a student’s life. These will also need to be fostered if you want your students to have happy, productive lives. Examples of such skills include creative skills, which will make your students better problem solvers and give them crucial emotional outlets.

Identify emotional and social skills: It’s not just academic skills which make people functional human beings. Your students will need to develop self-confidence, self-esteem, healthy ways to cope with stress and disappointment, as well as way to interact in productive ways with others. Consider what techniques you can apply in your classroom to help students develop these as well.
