Evil is everywhere in our world today, from families to friends, neighbors, religious to political leaders. Everyone tend to go against one another in one way or the other. The sad truth is that most evil is done by people who never make up their minds to be good or evil.
People never imagine what evil they can do until they do it. Every man knows there are evils in this world which need setting right. Every man has pretty definite ideas as what these evils are. But to most men one in particular stands out vividly. To some, in fact, this stands out with such startling vividness that they lose sight of other evils, or look upon them as the natural consequence of their own particular evil-in-chief.
The best antidote against evils of all kinds, against the evil thoughts that haunt the soul, against the needless perplexities which distract the conscience, is to keep hold of the
good we have. Impure thoughts will not stand against pure words and prayers and deeds.
Little doubts will not avail against great
certainties. Fix your affections on things
above, and then you will less and less be troubled by the cares, the temptations, the troubles of things on earth. Life is richer with you being good.
