GHANA SEND PANAMA PACKING AS
ARGENTINA WAITS ON
The Black Satellites of Ghana earlier today defeated Panama
1-0 to top Group B thus sending Panama out of the tournament. The game which
saw lots of fireworks was indeed a do-or-die encounter for Panama, they took
the game straight to the Ghanians, but the strong African kept Panama at bay
for almost two-third minutes of the encounter before talisman Boateng grabbed
the decider in the 82nd minutes. Elsewhere in Group B, Austria did
just well to contain rampaging Argies who needed an outright win to progress,
the game which ended 0-0 saw the Austrians defended most part of the game.
UKRAINE MAUL USA TO GO TOP AS HOPE
APLENTY FOR NEW ZEALAND
USA having already booked her ticket to the knock-out stage was
mauled by Ukraine. The Ukrainians who needed just a solitary point against USA
went all out attacking, which paid off with hat-trick from Kovalenki, all in
the second half. This win put Ukraine as the most tactically gifted side after
the break with 9goals in two matches all coming in the second half, the win
also put them top of the table with USA settling for second place finish.
Meanwhile, New Zealand made a good case for their progression as they searched
for one of the third-loser’s ticket, a 5-1 drabbing of Myanmar means they are
still mathematically in if other results favorably go their way. These results
mean that Argentina are mathematically out of the tournament.
