MALI DEFEATS MEXICO IN THRILLER

The Eaglet of Mali kicked off her campaign on the right foot defeating Mexico 2-0 at the Otago Stadium Dunedin. The game which started on a low key came to life when three players were sent out of the encounter. It was Malian's Maiga that was first given the marching in the 56th minutes by the German referee, having gotten two yellow cards within the space of 5minutes. Then Diego Gama was given a straight red thus making the players 10-apiece 65th minutes, before Mexico went a man down further just a minute later when Oscar Bernan got his second yellow card. Mali took full advantage of this and went ahead in the 77th minutes via utility striker Traore, Mali will then double the advantage two minutes later through Gbakle.

PORTUGAL THRASHED SENEGALE
Senegal go down to Portugal
New boys were given a welcome beating by inspirational Portuguese. The Creole grabbed the first goal as early as the 1st minute through Martin. Despite going down so early, Senegale held their head high even as the Portuguese pushed further for the second goal. Talisman André Silva grabbed the second goal in a late exchange exactly at the nick of 90th minute before setting up Nuno for the third goal two minutes later.

URUGUAY PIPED SERBIA

Football could be cruel sometimes, as inspired Serbia lost out to Uruguay. The Uruguayan who were the second place finishers last edition in Turkey were the second team all through the encounter, but managed a solitary goal through Perreiro in the 56th minutes to kill off the duel against the entertaining Serbia.

Nothing could have been more sweeter for the Americans that an opening match day victory over the Asian Champion Qatar. The game produced the necessary sparkling that go with a champion battle, but Colombia wither the storm and grabbed the famous victory through promising Rodriguez in the 24th minutes. Though the Qatari didn't succumb easily, they had to settle for the 1-0 loss.
