TOP SEVEN MATCHES TO WATCH
With less than a day to the commencement of the big one,
the 2015 World Youth Championship in New Zealand is set to kick off across
seven cities, and our sport analyst looks at Top the games football lovers will
never wish to miss.
MEXICO v MALI
Venue – Otago Stadium
Dunedin
Date – 31 May 2015
Time – 2am (Ngr Time)
This
is one game that will spark up the opening fixtures in New Zealand. Both teams
have rich experiences at this level, and we should not expect anything less
than an explosive encounter. Both teams have met once at this level with Mexico
running away a 4-1 winner at the Turkey 2013 WYC, and Mali will hope to turn
the tide against the Mexicans when they meet later this week.
PORUGAL v SENEGALE
Venue – Waikato Stadium
Hamilton
Date – 31 May 2015
Time – 5am (Ngr Time)
Shortly
after the thriller between Mexico and Mali, the world will be thrilled with
another explosive game, with the two times world champion slugging it out with
newcomers Senegale. What makes this a must watch is borne out of the fact that
this will be Senegale first ever shot at this tourney, and facing a tough
European style will make it a memorable one.
URUGUAY v SERBIA
Venue – Otago Stadium
Dunedin
Date – 31 May 2015
Time – 5am (Ngr Time)
Almost the same time as Portugal v
Senegale, the world will be thrilled with another explosive battle between
Uruguay and Serbia, which means that football loving fans will miss one of the
encounters. Though both have not met at this stage before, the rich history of
Uruguay and Serbia (Formerly the Yugoslavians) will come to bed when both of
them go head to head.
NIGERIA v BRAZIL
Venue – Taranaki New Plymouth
Date – 01 June 2015
Time – 2am (Ngr Time)
Dubbed as the final before finals,
clash of the titans or the gladiators, this match no doubt will be a battle of
the devils, both are known to have rich antecedents when it comes to global
football, and locking horns so early in the tournament tells us what to expect
in the competition as it progresses. Met four times in this tournament, and
Brazil going three times better with no win ever for Nigeria, it becomes a
herculean task for the Flying Eagles to scale the Brazilian hurdle.
ARGENTINA
v GHANA
Venue – Wellington Regional Stadium Wellignton
Date – 02 June 2015
Time – 8am (Ngr Time)
Met twice, and shared spoils twice,
this is no doubt one of the most explosive game of this tournament. Both former
champions, and with extraordinary impact at this level, it is sure a clash of
titans.
MEXICO v URUGUAY
Venue – Otago Stadium Dunedin
Date – 03 June 2015
Time – 5am (Ngr Time)
Never met at this stage, but their
rivalry in continental showdown can never be downplayed. Mexico and Uruguay
will no doubt set up a perfect American duel and we cant expect anything less
than explosive.
COLOMBIA v PORTUGAL
Venue – Otago Stadium Dunedin
Date – 06 June 2015
Time – 2am (Ngr Time)
Colombia will be out to seek revenge
in what seems to be the last game of Group C. Both have met just once with
Portugal defeating the American with a solitary goal. Their second meeting will
definitely set us a wonderful duel and a good way to end Group C.
