two poems

PEARL IN RUBBISH
 Look for the pearl
In this fossil
The water must give way
Though it around sway
And gold be hid
Without a lid
And in a rubbish
Roughly it be furbish’
Part of a zoned décor
This please recall
It is to save a people

HER PEARL

An immortal flower blossomed
Out of her dishonoured bosom
Sprung out of a guilty passion
An immaculate lustre,
Brilliant like a quivering sun
With a native grace
Coexisting with faultless purity
Sprung she from nefarious roots
Her Pearl.

Outside the Puritan confinement
Of holy homes by orthodox practice
Found she
This overwhelming crown
Of the perfect imperfection
Of their unholy grace
Her pearl.
